Why I pop more pills NOW than before NSNG

I HATE taking pills! I am one of those people that have a hard time swallowing big fat pills… So I avoided them as much as possible my entire life. If I didn’t have to take a prescription, I didn’t! Birth control pills were easy because they were so tiny, but I know I’ve thrown out so many bottles of multivitamins that I had every intention of taking and about two weeks later, I couldn’t stand the thought of swallowing one more gigantic tablet.

VERY LARGE pills!
VERY LARGE pills!

The idea of becoming more “natural” and eating more “organic” is hopefully that you would rely less on prescription medication for certain diagnoses (my opinions only, please consult your physician..). I began treating my migraines, that have ailed me for almost 20 years, months before discovering NSNG adding 4 prescriptions to my nightstand. The daily preventative caused carbonated beverages to taste horrible so I stopped drinking soft drinks and beer due to the medicine, making my transition to NSNG much easier!

Being NSNG for awhile now and speaking to other NSNG migraine sufferers online, NSNG has played a role in reducing the number and/or intensity of migraines. I can say that I have lowered my dose of daily preventative in half and will be again soon. Before treating my migraines, I was having 2-4 migraines per month. That has reduced to around 1 migraine every 4-6 months. I still have occasional headaches from weather changes and such but nothing to the degree that I was having before NSNG.

Not from personal experience, but I’ve heard stories from others that have gone off their blood pressure and cholesterol medicines after maintaining NSNG lifestyle. The BEST example of this has to be Jimmy Moore (livinlavidalowcarb.com) and his book Cholesterol Clarity. He has many experts discuss why the standard cholesterol panel physicians use today is really not telling the whole story of what’s going on in your body. This book is a MUST READ!

So why am I taking more pills now?

Like I’ve said earlier, I’m still taking my daily preventative for migraines, I’ve just lowered dosage. I started a probiotic for gut health not long after starting NSNG because I’ve always had some digestion issues, but with NSNG once you remove the processed garbage there’s less ‘content’… I learned that at my age I should be taking a prenatal vitamin already, just for the folate alone, if I’m anticipating pregnancy in my future. From a recent blood test, I recognized a recurring B-12 deficiency found from my teens so I’ve started a B-12 supplement. And last, I’ve learned from listening to Vinnie and Dr. Drew that EVERYONE is deficient in magnesium. That is the one supplement everyone should be taking daily, which is why when Vinnie created his own vitamins he made the broad spectrum magnesium caps the second product after the daily multicap. His vitamins are so pure, I took the multicap one morning, from a sample pack that came with my magnesium, and I got a niacin flush! I didn’t eat anything before taking it. I just stick with the magnesium for now… There’s no fillers or additives at all in his vitamins.

After I realized all the other products that DID have fillers and additives, I had to do some shopping…

Probiotic:
I had been taking Jarrow formula but realized they contained magnesium stearate (which actually works AGAINST absorption!), maltodextrin (SUGAR), and silicon dioxide (SAND?!). So I sought out a more natural alternative in Garden of Life RAW Probiotics for Women! I love this product so much because of the raw natural ingredients.

Prenatal:
Being new to the world of the prenatal vitamin, I wanted to get the exact product for my needs. I went to my local Whole Foods and was first introduced to the Garden of Life RAW products at this time. I knew I wanted the cleanest, most natural product I could find, and this seemed perfect!

B-12:
I’m stuck right now on the Jarrow formula B-12 lozenge that is so sugary while I await Pure Vitamin Club‘s launch of their B-12 soon!!!

Magnesium:
This cap has 4 different forms of magnesium, all with different properties:
Magnesium Carbonate – Easily tolerated, with antacid properties that aid in digestion and preventing acid reflux
Magnesium Glycinate – One of the best absorbed and most bio-available forms of Magnesium, considered best for long-term use and correcting a deficiency.
Magnesium Taurate – Best for cardiovascular health, as it is known to prevent arrhythmia and guard against heart damage. Gentle on the stomach.
Magnesium Citrate – Aids in colon health, with gentle laxative properties.
